What are in vitro diagnostics?

In vitro diagnostics (IVD) are tests on bodily samples like blood, tissue or urine. IVDs are used to detect diseases, conditions, or infections. Pregnancy tests and checks of blood glucose levels are two examples of IVDs.

IVD companies have been quick to embrace technological innovations.  Now remote monitoring through their phone or computer allows patients or individuals to monitor their condition or even perform tests to assess their health– and send the results to experts for analysis.
