The MedTech Forum 2025: bridging green goals and competitive edge in healthcare

Posted on 05.06.2025

From 13 to 15 May 2025, Lisbon Conference Centre was set in The MedTech Forum colours. On the occasion, three dedicated sustainability sessions were held to discuss latest developments, best practices and how to bridge green goals and competitive edge in healthcare.

During the first session on “Climate meets Health Economics”, first insights on MedTech Europe’s upcoming study report on healthcare decarbonisation were shared. A second panel gathered business leaders together with representatives of the global coalition of eye societies (EyeSustain) and the Horizon Europe project on “Digital Health in the Circular Economy” to share their insights on implementing the Green Deal in healthcare.

Finally, as the medical technology sector innovates for human and planetary health, panel 3 gathered industry representatives from the Global Medical Technology Alliance (GMTA) and the World Health Organisation to shine a spotlight on global sustainability trends.

To conclude, panellists confirmed that sustainability was no longer a “nice to have” but a “need to have”.  In times of uncertainty, sustainability also quickly turns into an important lever for economic resilience. We thank all speakers for their vivid engagement! See you at The MedTech Forum on 11-13 May 2026 in Stockholm, Sweden
