The future European Medical Device Nomenclature

An information package on the future European Medical Device Nomenclature (EMDN) was released by the Commission in January explaining:
• The current ongoing work, its mapping with GMDN, management of EMDN at the MDCG level here
• The CND Nomenclature’s background, general principles, structure/grouping hierarchy here

The European Medical Device Nomenclature is expected to be released in 2020 (no specific date is given). It is also expected that the MDCG Nomenclature WG will define the rules and processes related to the creation, update, maintenance and use of the EMDN.
