Posted on 05.06.2023

Brussels, 5 June 2023 – The MedTech Forum 2023 broke previous attendance records, welcoming over 1,000 participants across 49 sessions. A mainstay of the medical technologies industry, the Forum featured sessions on the industry’s current trends, challenges, and future opportunities.

The MedTech Forum 2023 took place from 30 May to 1 June in Dublin, Ireland. A mainstay of the medical technologies industry, and the largest health and medical technology conference in Europe, the MedTech Forum brought together industry leaders, leading innovators, policymakers, and investors to discuss the current trends, challenges, and future opportunities in the medical technology sector. The largest-ever Forum, this edition broke previous records by welcoming over 1,000 participants from across Europe and industries.

The MedTech Forum, which was hosted in cooperation with the Irish MedTech Association, began with opening remarks by Simon Covey, Irish Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment. The MedTech Forum featured a rich programme, welcoming 149 speakers across 49 sessions.

CEO #nofilter sessions allowed participants to directly ask global leaders from European medical technology companies to discuss and speak openly about the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities they are facing. The sessions featured dynamic discussions on the global impact and transition to the sectoral medical technology CE marking regulations. Digital health was also at the core of these two days, with topics, such as the potential of the European Health Data Space, AI or digital twins to transform healthcare systems. The MedTech Forum enabled thought-provoking discussions on key issues, like investing in research and innovation, developing value-based procurement, and addressing global public health challenges.

Oliver Bisazza, CEO of MedTech Europe, said “MedTech Europe is delighted to have hosted a successful MedTech Forum. This year’s Forum has highlighted just how innovative the medical technology sector is, and how much it contributes to patients and healthcare systems.

The medical technologies sector has a lot to offer – in the past years, we have had a deep and positive impact on the way healthcare is delivered. We are looking forward to the future – the future of our sector, the creativity and innovation power in Europe, and the role that our industry will have in transforming healthcare.

Medtech innovations offer needed solutions to Europe’s challenges, but only if they can get through the European maze, and to the patients and healthcare systems that need them. It is paramount for Europe to put special attention to keep its historical attractiveness for our industry.”

MedTech Europe will host the 2024 edition of the MedTech Forum, which will take place on 22-24 May in Vienna, Austria.
