MedTech Europe joins first in‑person HERA Industrial Cooperation Forum

Posted on 05.03.2026

On 6 February 2026, MedTech Europe participated in the first in-person meeting of the HERA Industrial Cooperation Forum. Under its renewed mandate, the Forum aims to reinforce the participation of industry and EU Member States, creating a structured platform for dialogue between diverse stakeholders and European institutions on issues related to medical countermeasures (MCM).

During the meeting, the European Commission presented HERA’s annual workplan and launched two technical working groups. These will focus on identifying supply-chain risks and dependencies, and on supporting the development, manufacturing, availability, and accessibility of MCMs. MedTech Europe stressed the importance of meaningful industry involvement in preparedness exercises and highlighted the burden of potential additional reporting requirements.

Throughout the meeting, MedTech Europe emphasised the essential role of medical technologies in any health response, regardless of the nature of the crisis. Looking ahead, the next steps will centre on the two ICF working groups, where MedTech Europe will continue advocating for practical, effective, and results‑oriented initiatives for the sector.
