MedTech Europe joins in EU Health Coalition call for strategic Multiannual Financial Framework investment in future health

Posted on 04.09.2025

As a partner of the EU Health Coalition, MedTech Europe has actively contributed to the Coalition’s recent statement on the European Commission’s proposed long-term budget, the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for 2028–2034.

The statement acknowledges positive elements in the proposal, such as the Commission’s focus on prevention and strengthening healthcare resilience through innovation and digitalisation. However, it also voices concern that health is not embedded as a strategic pillar within the EU’s budget, risking inadequate and unsustainable support for European health and life sciences initiatives.

The Coalition, representing over 50 partners across Europe’s health and life sciences sectors, calls for:

  • Health and life sciences to become a cross-cutting budget priority
  • Ring-fenced funding for health research, digital transformation, and clinical trials
  • Increased investment in patient-centred care, innovation, and skills development
  • Sustainable, predictable support for civil society and patient organisations
  • Governance reforms to ensure budget alignment with Europe’s long-term health and industrial objectives

MedTech Europe, together with Coalition partners, advocates for a future-proof financial framework that enables the rapid adoption of breakthrough medical technologies, empowers patients, and builds resilient, integrated health systems.

We look forward to collaborating with stakeholders and EU institutions to realise a healthier Europe through substantial, targeted investment, a vision at the heart of both the Coalition’s statement and MedTech Europe’s own manifesto and submission to the MFF consultation.
