The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), which would require companies to conduct due diligence to prevent adverse human rights and environmental impacts in their own operations and across their value chains and was widely expected to be approved earlier this month after the political agreement was reached last December with the European Parliament, failed to be approved by the Council in the COREPER of 28 February 2024, casting serious doubts about the possibility of the file being approved before the European elections later this year.
