European Patients’ Forum (EPF) and MedTech Europe hold Patient-Medtech Dialogue workshop

Posted on 04.07.2019

On 28 June 2019, EPF and MedTech Europe organised their yearly Dialogue to engage patients and industry in a fruitful discussion.

The Patient-MedTech Dialogue is a platform where patients and the medical technology industry can discuss topics of mutual interest. The Dialogue has been in place since 2011, initially set up with the European Patients Forum and its members, but now also extending the invitation to other patient associations.

This year’s workshop focused on “Patient involvement in the lifecycle of medical devices”. More specifically, the participants discussed examples and gaps of patient involvement in the different stages of the lifecycle of a medical technology- from development through CE marking to reaching the patient.

We had the pleasure of having the European Patients’ Academy (EUPATI) introduced to the participants, followed by a discussion on how to potentially bring medtech modules into the Academy in the future.

We look forward to continuing this conversation and to a sustained collaboration with patient organisations.
