Medical technologies at EU level regroup into one single representation: MedTech Europe

Posted on 04.01.2017

After four years of successful alliance, EDMA and Eucomed members voted to dissolve their respective European associations and create a new MedTech Europe single entity, representing the medical technology sector in Europe, from diagnosis to cure. As a consequence, EDMA and Eucomed no longer exist.

The new single entity aims to further increase the recognition of the role that medical technology plays in delivering innovative and efficient solutions to cover the growing needs of patients and of health care providers. This also gives our industry opportunity to be one of the key players in the European healthcare arena and better mirror and address the ever-more integrated healthcare environment.

“MedTech Europe will provide constructive and essential input to any European debate around healthcare, given that our industry looks at the entire healthcare ecosystem and the full patient pathway. MedTech Europe will continue to provide its diagnostic and device domains with core specific services and expertise. At the same time, we now have even more reasons and resources to become further engaged in forward-thinking healthcare themes, including digitalisation and disruptive technologies such as 3D printing and integrated healthcare,” said Serge Bernasconi, CEO of MedTech Europe.

MedTech Europe is the European voice of medical technology industries, including diagnostics and medical devices. We aim to be a key thought leader in Brussels when it comes to addressing today’s and future healthcare challenges in Europe.
