MedTech Europe joins ATTD 2023
Posted on 02.03.2023
MedTech Europe’s Diabetes Sector Group joined the 16th International Conference on Advanced Technologies & Treatments for Diabetes (ATTD), which took place in Berlin from 22 to 25 February 2023. ATTD brings together leading experts in the field of diabetes from across the globe to discuss the latest research and developments in medical technology.
On the first day of the Conference, the Group had the opportunity to attend the Opening Lecture given by Chantal Mathieu, Vice-Chair at the European Diabetes Forum (EUDF) – of which MedTech Europe is a member. The lecture focused on ‘the new faces of diabetes’, and particularly on how the scientific knowledge of this condition has evolved through the decades, leading to new diagnostics paths and, more importantly, to advanced therapeutic opportunities for people living with diabetes.
As in previous years, the Diabetes Sector Group supported start-ups with educational grants to attend the International Fair of New Technologies in Diabetes at ATTD, giving them the opportunity to attend the conference and showcase their innovative products and cutting-edge technologies. MedTech Europe has supported the Tech Fair since it was founded several years ago, and it has since grown into a much-anticipated cornerstone of ATTD.
In this spirit of innovation, ATTD also represents a great opportunity to enhance cooperation and engagement both at the European and national level. The Group exchanged views with IDF Europe on mutual priorities and potential areas of collaboration, and listened to #dedoc voices, who brought the views of PwD to the audience. Also, meetings with national associations to discuss the future of diabetes care are crucial for meaningfully advancing digitally enabled care for the benefit of people living with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes in Europe.
