MedTech Europe joined thousands of representatives from industry, SMEs, patients and academia at the 10th International Conference on Advanced Technologies & Treatments for Diabetes (ATTD 2017) in Paris last week! Furthermore, at ATTD on 18 February the MedTech Europe Diabetes Sector Group, represented by Tanja Valentin, co-chaired and supported a Session of 100 participants on Innovative Start-Up Companies in the field of Diabetes. 10 new and exciting companies from around the world, including technology hubs such as Silicon Valley, India and Singapore, gave presentations on innovative break-throughs for people with diabetes.
Novel medtech approaches include the possibility of a fully implantable artificial pancreas, a non-invasive technique of using radio-frequencies to measure glucose levels and advanced foot care technology to prevent diabetes-related foot ulcers. One of the key takeaways from the session was underscoring the importance of value-based healthcare in the field of diabetes technologies. The MedTech Europe Diabetes SG will continue to collaborate with stakeholders in 2017 and further enhance cooperation on key initiatives.
