On 30 June 2017, MedTech Europe was represented at the Annual Congress of the Austrian Convention Bureau (Convention4u2017) and addressed the future implications of MTE’s Code of Ethical Business Practice for the invitations of Healthcare Professionals to Third-Party Organised Educational Conferences.

The objective was to provide the congress-industry in Austria a tailored overview of the MTE Code, to allow the audience to optimise cooperation between medical congress organisers, congress suppliers and medical technology companies under the new guidelines.

The Annual Congress gathered about 170 participants, with more than half relevant stakeholders for the medtech industry. Also represented were large and small professional congress organisers, Austrian medical societies (Diabetes, Geriatrics, Gastro-enterology and Cardiology), consulting firms handling medical societies’ secretariats and a global medtech company, MTE member, leader in the field of hearing loss.

During the 90-minute workshop, Clarisse Aillet (Medical Education Consultant for MedTech Europe) provided a brief introduction about MTE along with key information on the latest Compliance developments (ethical principles, concrete changes of educational grants and impact on congress organisation, CVS and Ethical Charter certification). She also led a live Q&A session with about 40 participants.
