MedTech Europe’s response to the European Commission’s call for evidence on a Critical Medicines Act

Posted on 06.03.2025

On 30 January 2025, the European Commission launched a call for evidence on a Critical Medicines Act, that aims to address medicine shortages by addressing supply chain vulnerabilities, reduce the EU’s dependencies and improve the availability of medicines of common interest.

MedTech Europe submitted its response to the Commission’s Call for evidence on 27 February 2025, insisting that medical devices, diagnostics and digital health solutions remain excluded from the Critical Medicines Act, as solutions to address shortages in the pharmaceutical sector will not be effective for medical technologies sectors. The response document reflects the collective contributions and expertise of MedTech Europe members presiding in the Public Affairs Committee and the Supply Chain Disruptions Working Group.
