MedTech Europe’s Diabetes Sector Group works with the diabetes community to advance access to quality diabetes care for all
Posted on 09.11.2023
From an awareness campaign on World Diabetes Day (14 November) to advocacy activities ahead of the 2024 European elections, the MedTech Europe Diabetes Sector Group continues its work of advancing digitally enabled care for the benefit of people living with diabetes, their care teams, and wider health systems in Europe.
On the occasion of World Diabetes Day on 14 November, MedTech Europe will once again join the awareness campaign led by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) with messages of support in solidarity with the diabetes community. This global campaign is an opportunity to partake in the conversation in diabetes, including on topics such as the role of digitally-enabled care in improving outcomes and quality of life for people living with T1 and T2 diabetes.
Additionally, ahead of the 2024 European elections, the Diabetes Group has supported the European Diabetes Forum (EUDF) in its work to create an EU elections ‘pledge’, which calls on politicians to support a stronger EU diabetes policy framework that supports national diabetes action plans.
In the next month, the Diabetes Group will further develop the ‘Access framework’ project for T2D care, aiming to kick off interviews with expert stakeholders – including clinicians, patient voices, researchers, regulatory experts, and politicians at European and national levels – to provide insights on the main drivers and barriers to T2 diabetes care in Europe.
