New IHI calls for proposal featuring topics on environment, use of animals in research and synthetic data

Posted on 07.09.2023

On 27 July 2023, Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) launched two new calls for proposals featuring topics on the environmental impacts of healthcare, addressing the use of animals in research and the generation of synthetic health data for research, among other things. The topics in these two calls illustrate how IHI makes concrete contributions to key European policies such as the European Green Deal and the Replacement, Reduction and Refinement of animals in science centres (the “Three Rs”).

More information on IHI call # 4 (two-stage with submission deadlines of 8 November 2023 for short proposals and of 23 April 2024 for full proposals) on the 3Rs, patient-centric blood sample collection, clinical trials, and the environmental impacts of healthcare is available here.

More information on IHI call # 5 (single-stage with a submission deadline of  16 January 2024 for full proposals) on the 3Rs, theranostics, stroke management and synthetic data is available here.

EU funding for the two calls stands at almost EUR 200 million. These will come from Horizon Europe, the EU’s research and innovation programme. The industry partners of IHI and IHI contributing partners will commit an equivalent amount to the projects, mainly via in-kind contributions such as their researchers’ time and access to resources and equipment, for example.
