Posted on 05.10.2023
Alexander Olbrechts, Director for Digital Health, participated in a panel discussion during the Health Outcomes Observatory (H2O) General Assembly. The conversation focused on the convergence of the proposed European Health Data Space (EHDS) and the H2O initiative, which is an EU-funded project that incorporates patient-reported outcomes into healthcare decision-making at an individual and population level.
Alongside MEP Stelios Kympouropoulos, MEP Tomislav Sokol, Jermo de Barros (DG Sante), Aneta Tyszkiewicz (EFPIA) and Meni Styliadou (Co-Lead, H2O), the panellists explored how the EHDS can contribute to the greater use of patient-reported outcomes and real-world evidence, and how the H2O can serve as an example for other countries and observatories.
MedTech Europe welcomed the goal of the EHDS and the H2O project, which can serve as a tangible demonstration of how the EHDS functions and delivers substantial benefits to patients and scientific advancement. Broad stakeholder inclusion and cooperation are of the utmost importance for the success of the EHDS.
