Working at the international level is a cooperative initiative, cooperation with other associations around the world is crucial to share expertise and ensure an optimal use of resources, this is done both through specific alliances and through bilateral discussions:

  • The Global Medical Technology Alliance (GMTA), which gathers national and regional medtech associations, is a forum to jointly develop and advocate policies that encourage innovation for healthcare needs. MedTech Europe is an active member, helping the GMTA co-ordinate common industry positions at global forums such as the World Health Organization (WHO), World Bank, World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and World Trade Organization (WTO).
  • MedTech Europe is part of the Global Diagnostics Alliance (GDA), which gathers the leading industry associations of manufacturers of IVDs and related analytical instruments and software. The GDA works to promote a global appreciation of how IVDs add value to healthcare systems. It is also a forum to discuss and collaborate.

MedTech Europe also collaborates closely with its regional counterparts in countries with a strong manufacturing base in Medical Technology, in particular with the US (AdvaMed & AdvaMedDx) and Japan (JFMDA, JACRI & JAIMA).
