Serge Bernasconi at the European High-Level Conference on “Citizenship, Ethics and Health Data”

On 2 February 2022, Serge Bernasconi, CEO of MedTech Europe, spoke at the High-Level Ministerial Conference on “Citizenship, Ethics and Health Data”, hosted by the French EU Presidency. At the panel on “European Ethical Principles for Digital Health: Leaving no one behind”, he presented MedTech Europe’s view on digital inclusion and digital health literacy, how to address challenges of equity in access to healthcare, as well as the modernisation of health services through the deployment and use of telehealth and remote monitoring solutions. In particular, he stressed that “Delivering digital health inclusively and equitably needs to be a joint stakeholder effort and consider issues of interoperability, affordability, skills and, above all, trust.”

The conference was organised in the context of the upcoming draft legislation on the European Health Data Space and featured key stakeholders in the field of public health.
