The impact of the new EU AI & Data strategies’ on digital health

The European Commission published on 19 February 2020 the European Strategy for Data and the White Paper on Artificial Intelligence: a European Approach, under the umbrella of the Communication on Shaping Europe’s Digital Future, which express a commitment of the new Commission to build a data economy on the basis of European values and principles. These developments bring great potential for digital health due to substantive plans and resources for the deployment of data sharing tools and platforms, the creation of governance frameworks, and the focus on quality and interoperability of data. MedTech Europe has issued a statement on the new documents, and will participate in the stakeholder consultative process.
