MedTech Europe joined the annual ATTD Conference (June 2-5), which brings together leading experts in the field of diabetes from across the globe to discuss the latest research and developments in medical technology. This year’s session took a virtual format that featured video sessions and booths with live chats within a “virtual venue” where several MedTech Europe banners were hung.
As in previous years, the Diabetes Sector Group sponsored the ATTD Tech Fair, which gives start-ups the chance to attend the conference and showcase their innovative technologies. This year’s winners were introduced by Federico Gavioli, Vice President Diabetes EMEA at Medtronic, on behalf of the Diabetes Sector Group. The Tech Fair has become a cornerstone of the annual conference since its founding several years ago, and MedTech Europe has bene an active supporter since its inception.
In a separate conference session, Slobodan Radumilo, Vice President and General Manager Diabetes Care EMEA and Chair of the Diabetes Sector Group, joined a panel discussion organised by the European Diabetes Forum (EUDF) on the future of Self-Care, Digitalisation and Technology. The event was chaired by Dr. Tadej Battelino, Head of Department of Paediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology, UMC Ljubljana and ATTD co-organiser. The discussion centred around the changes needed to improve access to digital diabetes tools and services, including better infrastructure, more flexibility in health systems and visionary leadership.
MedTech Europe joined EUDF at the beginning of this year. The multistakeholder forum aims to create a unified voice from across the diabetes community, including policymakers, patient organisations, healthcare professionals, research associations and industry, in order to foster dialogue and advocate for meaningful policy action on diabetes in Europe.
