Updated ex-post consumer protection legislation

On 28 September 2022, the EU Commission published two proposals updating and adding to the liability legislation. The revised Product Liability Directive seeks to adapt existing rules to the digital age, circular economy and new global value chains. The new AI Directive proposes new rules that would make creators of artificial intelligence-powered software and products responsible to pay for potential damages when people were harmed by such technologies.
