Automating diabetes management

Over 42 million people are living with Type 1 Diabetes, of which 1.1m are children and young adults. Managing the condition – from extensive glucose monitoring to insulin injections – can be a huge burden. Innovative devices are now reducing the stress of diabetes management through semi-automation of insulin administration. A glucose monitor, a pump and a smartphone are key elements of an innovative closed loop system which can mimick the function of a healthy pancreas.
