Diabetes Sector Committee: Position paper on the EU Safe Hearts Plan

The Diabetes Sector Committee welcomes the EU’s ambition to reduce cardiovascular burden and its recognition of diabetes as a key cardiovascular risk factor. It calls for a coherent cardio-metabolic approach that embeds diabetes and medical technologies across prevention, early detection and long-term management, and highlights the need for integrated, personalised approaches, systematic risk-based health checks, and the necessary support for Member States to translate EU ambitions into practice.

It underlines the essential role of medical technologies and digital solutions in enabling earlier detection, improved disease management and better outcomes for people living with diabetes across Europe.
