MedTech Europe Cardiovascular Sector Group welcomes the Safe Hearts Plan: a key initiative to ensure cardiovascular health in Europe

Brussels, 16 December 2025 – MedTech Europe Cardiovascular Sector Group welcomes the publication of the European Commission’s EU Cardiovascular Health Plan, titled the Safe Hearts Plan, marking a significant step in the European Union’s ambition to address the main cause of mortality among its citizens.

By setting out a comprehensive, long-term vision across the entire patient pathway, the Safe Hearts Plan represents a critical opportunity to change the course of cardiovascular diseases for millions of people across Europe.

MedTech Europe Cardiovascular Sector Group particularly welcomes the plan’s strong recognition of the role of innovation and medical technologies, including advanced diagnostics, life-saving devices, and digital and data-driven solutions. Combined with comprehensive cardiovascular health checks and timely access to high-quality care, medical technologies can help health systems improve patient outcomes, increase efficiency, and reduce disparities in cardiovascular care between and within Member States.

To achieve the objectives of the Safe Hearts Plan, it will be essential to strengthen treatment and care.
