Senior Vice President Public Affairs EMECLA, Edwards LifesciencesAndrea is currently Senior Vice-President Public Affairs EMEA, Canada and LATAM at Edwards Lifesciences and member of the regional Executive Leadership Team. He is leading the Government Affairs, Market Access, Communication and Patients Advocacy engagement for the company. Andrea received a law degree from the University of Rome, La Sapienza. Before joining Edwards Lifesciences, Andrea worked at Baxter Healthcare, Serono, GSK and Sanofi in different European and International positions in the public affairs and market access policy area. Andrea is the Chair of the HTA Committee of MedTech Europe – the European trade association for the medical technology industry including diagnostics, medical devices, and digital health. In his role, Andrea represents MedTech Europe at the HTA Stakeholders Network under the EU HTA Regulation. On pro-bono, Andrea is member of the Board of the European Patient Safety Foundation (EUPSF). In the last ten years, Andrea represented the healthcare Industry in several European EU Commission and Member States initiatives such as the HTANetwork, EUnetHTA Joint-Action 3, and the EU Active & Healthy Aging Innovation Partnership and the EU Joint Action on Vaccination. He was President of EuropaBio the European Association of the biotech Industry (2009-2011), and of Vaccines Europe, the European Vaccines manufacturers association (2013-2017). Andera represented the biotechnology industry at the EMA/COMP WG with interested parties on orphan drugs. Andrea is a founding member of the Global Policy Forum at HTAi – the scientific and professional society for all those who produce or use health technology assessment (HTA).
