Leveraging the recent publication on the Value of Diagnostic Information (VODI) concept, MedTech Europe hosted a workshop on 24 October 2019 entitled ‘Information as an Enabler for Sustainable Value-Driven Healthcare Delivery in Europe’. This workshop brought together a group of selected stakeholders including patient representatives, healthcare professionals and EU policy-makers, to provide their insights on the role of diagnostic information for sustainable and value-driven healthcare. The participants were invited to critically reflect on VODI and to discuss how to put it to use.
The workshop participants expressed their support for VODI, highlighting that in-vitro diagnostics are integral part of today’s healthcare as they provide important information at every step of the patient’s journey. Further, participants suggested to spur the operationalisation of VODI and promote its uptake in healthcare systems. Last but not least, there was strong interest among to participants to continue the discussion moving forward. An outcome document, summarising the discussion at the workshop, is available here.
