MedTech Europe hosts the European Innovation Council (EIC), the largest EU public investor in medical technologies

On 23 March, MedTech Europe and its Research & Innovation Committee virtually met the European Innovation Council (EIC), the largest European public investor in medical technologies. The virtual meeting was a unique opportunity for MedTech Europe’s members to get closely in touch with EIC, which supports 340+ projects in medical technologies from early stage to market access, out of which 200 are market ready. This makes the medical technology sector the most active one at EIC.

Start-ups and SMEs play a critical role in the European ecosystem in medical technologies. Some of these start-ups and SMEs undertakes intensive research, develop innovation at early stages and initiate the clinical validation.

The organisation of EIC Corporate Days (for individual companies) has been proposed voluntarily to corporates in the coming months to offer to MedTech Europe Members a curated access to the most exciting start-ups and emerging technologies.

Finally, the EIC Medtech Days (for a group of medical technology companies) in late 2021 will bring corporates in direct contact with the CEOs and technologists of EIC portfolio start-ups and projects. It will be a starting point for connecting ecosystems of corporates, innovation agencies and other relevant stakeholders from a diverse range of regions.
