Innovative payment schemes for medical technologies and invitro diagnostics tests in Europe

European Med Tech and IVD Reimbursement Consulting Ltd. used its in-house expertise to identify and provide an overview of the innovative payment schemes for medical devices and in-vitro diagnostic tests in European countries. The availability of innovative payment schemes was studied in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Please note that since this project conducted in 2018, MedTech Europe has conducted two additional projects on these mechanisms providing temporary coverage and/or funding to medical technology outside of the general reimbursement and funding frameworks: one in 2020 by commissioning ValueConnected and another one in 2021 by commissioning Alira Health.

In parallel, the innovative payment schemes we renamed into Value Based Access Programs (VBAPs – in the project with ValueConnected) and then into Accelerated Coverage Pathways for Innovation (ACPIs – in the project with Alira Health).
