Joint business statement on the EU Proposal on Compulsory Licensing

MedTech Europe co-signed a Joint business statement on the EU Proposal on compulsory licensing for crisis management, as the Council is in the process of drafting its position. Together with other European business organisations, we hope that key unresolved issues of the original proposal, such as inadequate judicial review and forced technology transfer/trade secret sharing will be adequately addressed.

In April 2023, the Commission submitted the proposal with the aim to secure the fast deployment of critical intellectual property in a time of need. The European Parliament adopted its position in March 2024.
