Roeland Van Aelst
President of ETHICSRoeland joined Johnson & Johnson in 1987 as a Medical Representative for Janssen Pharmaceuticals. He held various positions of increasing responsibility in both sales, as district sales manager, and marketing, including local and global marketing director. He joined the Compliance organisation of Johnson & Johnson in May 2005 for the EMEA region with extension to Asia, Latin-America and Canada in 2008.
In 2010, Roeland became responsible for the EMEA & Canada cross-sector, followed by a sector lead position for Medical Devices EMEA in 2012, and in 2019, he became Regional Lead Third Party Intermediary Ethics and Compliance EMEA. He terired from J&J mid 2025. He has been the chairman of the MedTech Europe Code Committee until May 2025 and chair of the MedTech Europe Ethics and Compliance Committee from 2007 until 2017.
Roeland is a founding member and the current president of ETHICS, an international association of Health Care Compliance professionals. Roeland is a founding advisor to- and speaker at the INSEAD Compliance leadership program as well as for the Seton Hall Law School international compliance certification program. He is a regular speaker at international compliance congresses.
