New GMTA paper

Posted on 05.10.2022

The Global Medical Technology Alliance (GMTA) has recently published the paper ‘Considerations for Privacy Laws Involving Health Data’.

Many governments around the world have adopted privacy and/or data protection legislation, and over thirty governments have pending draft laws or initiatives. As policymakers develop and advance privacy and data protection legislation, the paper intends to raise awareness about the importance of health data and the key role of medical technology companies in patient care in order to ensure that this data can continue to be utilized to provide the highest levels of care for patients. The paper puts forward a number of considerations for policymakers when developing privacy/data protection legislation.

GMTA provides a forum for the development and advocacy of policies that support innovation in medical technology to address patients’ healthcare needs. Its members are associations from around the world representing manufacturers of medical technologies.
